The Basics

Hi! My name is Kirsten and I am a junior English Professional Writing and Graphic Design major at Elizabethtown College (Etown.) I was born and raised in Aberdeen, Maryland and my favorite food is crab cakes.

Born to Create

Ever since I could hold a pencil, I knew I wanted to be a writer. I spent most of my elementary school and middle school days writing books and stories. I wanted to be an author when I grew up.

Designing my Dream

Over time I learned that being an author can be a challenging career to get into (although it’s still on my bucket list!) But that doesn’t mean I can’t write. College has taught me about all sorts of careers in writing, such as copywriting, tech writing, and writing for the web.

After my first year of college, I added a second major in graphic design. I learned about the principles and elements of design and different design programs such as Photoshop and InDesign. My goal in college was to learn as many skills as possible that I could take to any job.

Hobbies & Passions

Outside of writing and design, I also love music! I play the viola and have participated in various orchestras throughout my life. I even studied music as a minor at Etown.

I also love to cook! One of my favorite things in the world is feeding the people that I love. I’ll research and explore new recipes or make tried-and-true favorites (My most famous recipe is my baked ziti. It gets requested at least one holiday every year!)

I’m Also a Cat Mom

Meet my partner in crime, Bear! I adopted him from a shelter in 2023. He is shy and scares easily, but he gives the best cuddles. His hobbies are chasing hair ties and falling asleep on the windowsill watching the birds.
