Elizabethtown College Symphonic band to perform in Spring Concert
The Elizabethtown College Symphonic Band will be performing its spring concert on April 24 at 3:00 p.m. in Leffler Chapel and Performance Center.
The concert is free to everyone, including students, faculty, parents, and the Elizabethtown area community.
The Symphonic Band, directed by faculty member Dr. Galen Leitzel, is comprised of not only Music majors, but also non-majors, along with several members from the community.
The concert will feature a variety of new and old repertoire, spanning from the beginning of school concert band pieces with famous 17th century composer Gustav Holst, all the way up to living contemporary composers such as Brian Balmages and Julie Giroux.
“I think it’s going to be an interesting program,” Leitzel said. “It’s definitely been fun to work on.”
The concert will also feature student and concerto competition winner Thomas Rebar ‘22, who will perform the first movement of the Trombone Concerto by Gordon Jacob, accompanied by the band.
“I commend Etown, because not that many schools have a program that features soloists with major ensembles,” said Leitzel.
Anticipated guests include parents and friends, as well as residents from Masonic Village, who will arriving at the chapel by bus to enjoy the concert.
